A Fresh Approach To
Managing your Digestive Health
A framework to help you reduce and manage your symptoms
As a digestive health specialist, I know how stressful and debilitating symptoms can become, especially when you lead a busy life.
I can help you build a framework for managing your triggers and symptoms in a safe, easy to implement way, without causing deficiences.
I work with clients in person at my clinic in Bristol, or via online appointments; whichever works best for you. In an in-depth consultation, we’ll discuss your digestive health issues and come up with an action plan for the best way to tackle them.

Sophie Claessens: Registered dietitian and digestive health specialist.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Have you been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) by your GP but not provided with enough support to know how to change your diet?
During an in-depth consultation, we’ll review your diet and lifestyle to pinpoint and manage the triggers of IBS.
Bowel Habits
Do you suffer from long term bloating, loose stools or constipation? Has your GP prescribed medications but you’re keen to try dietary modification to manage your symptoms instead?
I’ll spend time with you to work through dietary management strategies for your specific symptoms.
Food Allergies
If you think you may have a food allergy, you should seek proper medical advice from your GP first.
As a dietitian, I can take your diagnosed food allergy and give you the correct nutritional advice to make sure you have a well balanced nutritional intake, whilst maintaining a varied and tasty diet.
Low FODMAP Diet
If you’re interested in trying the low FODMAP diet but you’re not sure where to start, I can be there to guide the way.
I’ll take you through the 3 stages of the Low FODMAP diet step by step. I’ll also provide you with helpful information booklets and answer any questions you may have to make it feel less overwhelming.
Elimination diets for intolerances
Intolerances are hard to diagnose, and commercial intolerance tests often aren’t based on real science.
If you think you may have a food intolerance I can guide you through a safe and effective elimination diet. When eliminating food groups, it’s important to have the support of a dietitian to prevent nutritional deficiencies.
“After several sessions with Sophie, my IBS symptoms have improved beyond my expectations. Sophie helped identify triggers that I would never have spotted myself, and the dietary changes she suggested were gradual and easy to implement. I would highly recommend working with Sophie if you are struggling to manage your IBS or other gut issues.”

What to expect from a digestive health consultation:
During our initial assessment consultation we’ll talk through the background around your symptoms, complete a symptom tracker which we’ll update at each follow up, and discuss your current diet and lifestyle factors including stress levels.
We’ll then come up with a plan going forward in terms of follow up appointments and discuss dietary management strategy options for your condition.
In your follow up appointments you will start to learn about how to change your diet and lifestyle to better manage your symptoms by setting achievable goals which are tailored to you.
Please note we do not provide prescriptive meal plans but we can talk through meal ideas together.
